The 8000Kicks hemp trekkers are made from industrial hemp, a sativa branch, known as the sober cousin of marijuana.
Industrial hemp has been used since 8000 BC, and its properties include being anti-bacterial, needing no fertilizers and almost no water to grow, hemp also cleans and restores the nutrients in the soil, and it is also very durable. In fact, Hemp is so strong that Henry Ford even built a car out of it.
We are pioneers in the development of hemp and our goal is to bring back this powerful natural fiber and make hemp products mainstream.

Our hemp has been made to repel water from coming in. We added a proprietary coating layer that protects the fabric and its properties from stains, liquids and dust particles. This will make the fabric very easy to clean as well.

We have also added a waterproof membrane that keeps your feet dry no matter what.

Hemp is the world's most sustainable natural fiber, and we are here to make it great again. By using hemp we have a next-to-neutral carbon footprint, that we offset by planting trees all around the world.

We put a great focus on the environment and we use almost only natural materials like rubber and hemp. For that reason, our trekkers are 100% vegan and almost completely biodegradable.

How do I get the shoes?

The Trekkers are launching on Kickstarter in february 2025, where they will be available for Pre-order at 40% OFF. Kickstarter Pre-orders allow our team to finance production and avoid waste, reducing our footprint on the planet.

If you like the trekker and if you want to support 8000' mission to make hemp great as it once was, then follow our project and support us on Kickstarter.

Returns and exchanges

Each hemp shoe has a period of 60 days be returned or exchanged. It must be in the original packaging. The 8000Kicks reserves the right to ask for pictures to confirm the product is in the same condition as when it was sent.

We have free returns and exchanges for the EU and US.

Can I take this on a flight? Will police dogs come after me?

8000Kicks are 100% legal everywhere in the world. Our team has traveled to Italy, France, USA, Canada, Morocco, Portugal and many other countries without any issues. Hemp is the sober cousin of marijuana, which means that it has no psychoactive components.

In some countries it is illegal to cultivate hemp, but it is 100% legal to buy and sell finished hemp products like soap, paper and apparel as long as it is produced abroad.

Can I smoke the shoes?

Do you really want to smoke our shoes? :-D

Hemp is the sober cousin of marijuana, which means that it has no psychoactive components, less than 0.3% THC, so you are definitely not getting high. Now seriously, please note that smoking the shoes is not a good idea and it might get you hospitalized.

Where do you ship from? Shipping times?

We currently fulfil our orders from Virginia in USA, and from Lisbon, Portugal. Standard shipping times vary.

The campaign will start in february and since this is a crowdfunding campaign, we plan to manufacture and ship all our products by July 2025.

A 77 year old and his grandson

Bernardo, the co-founder, moved back to Portugal in 2017 to start a new project, but he didn’t know exactly what it would be. One night, after a few beers and joints with the boys, someone came up with the idea of making a shoe for smoking. It was a 5-in-morning-kind-of-idea, or maybe not.

He asked the most unlikely person for help: Otilia, his grandmother, with over 50 years’ experience in textiles. Together, they spent over 1 year actively working with suppliers from around the world until what is now the World’s 1st waterproof hemp shoe.
