Hemp knit breathes in a way leather and synthetics simply cannot. Air moves through the upper all day, so your feet stay cool, and the knit dries fast when you sweat. It is naturally odor resistant too, which is why the Shifter still smells like nothing after a week of wear.
True to size in length, roomier where it matters. The wide toe box gives your toes room to spread without going up a size, so order your usual number. Throw them in the machine. The hemp knit upper is machine washable, so when they get dirty you wash them like anything else you own. Cold cycle, gentle setting, laces and insoles out, then air dry away from direct heat. Skip the dryer. That is the whole routine.
Different for about a day, then better. Most shoes taper to a point and squeeze your toes together, which is not the shape a foot actually is. The Shifter gives your toes room to spread and grip the ground the way they are supposed to. Expect the first few wears to feel unusually roomy at the front. After that, going back to a narrow shoe is the part that feels wrong.
