8000Kicks hemp backpacks are made from industrial hemp, a Sativa branch, known as the sober cousin of marijuana. Industrial hemp has been used since 8000 BC, and its properties include being anti-bacterial, needing no fertilizers and almost no water to grow, hemp cleans and restores the nutrients in the soil, and it is also very durable. In fact, Hemp is so strong that Henry Ford even built a car out of it. We are pioneers in the development of hemp and our goal is to bring back this powerful natural fiber and make amazing waterproof hemp backpacks.
Our hemp fabric has been built to repel fluids from coming in. First we added a proprietary coating layer that protects the fabric and its properties from stains, liquids and dust particles. This will make the fabric very easy to clean as well.
Hemp is also a super durable material, that will make your sustainable backpack last years before it wears out.

Because of this, we have planted thousands of trees to offset any emissions we let off during manufacturing and transportation processes. What are sustainable backpacks?
Sustainable backpacks, as any sustainable product, are backpacks that are built with sustainable materials and renewable resources, therefore not compromising future generations.
8000Kicks products are totally vegan, and they incude a llimited ammount of synthetic materials, as hemp is a plant based fiber. Hemp is fast growing plant that needs no pesticides of fertilizers to grow, it consumes 5 times less water than cotton, and it even captures a lot of CO2 from the atmosphere, making our product totally carbon neutral.
Do sustainable backpacks last?
A sustainable backpack is not inferior to other backpacks in terms of durability. Materials differ and the same way a cheap non-sustainable backpack will break easier, a cheap sustainable backpack will also break faster. That's why our backpack is not cheap, because we have used quality components to build it.
Hemp is very durable and it was used by Henry Ford to build some cars. Our hemp fibers are tested in the lab to guarantee nothing but the best durability and the best results, this guarantees total customer satisfaction, or a replacement if it breaks under 6 months.
Are waterproof backpacks sustainable?
Not all waterproof backpacks are sustainable, it all depends on the materials.
8000Kicks backpacks are waterproof and sustainable because they were built that way. The outer hemp fabric has a bio wax soy coating that repells liquids from coming in. Then we have added a waterproof membrane that keeps liquids out no matter what. This membrane made of PU, a synthetic material used to make vegan shoes.
No PFCs, teflon or other harmful toxic quimicals was used to make our backpacks waterproof.

Each sustainable backpack should be cleaned in a different way depending on the materials they are built with.
Our backpacks are made from premium hemp fibers and we recommend washing them dry using warm water, soap and a kitchen scrub. We do not suggest machine washing as it might damage the backpack's ability to reppel water.
What if I don't like it? Refunds?
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, contact us within 60 days of receiving your 8000Kicks to arrange for a replacement, exchange, or refund. Products must be in new condition, with no signs of wear, and in original packaging. All returns require a return authorization from 8000Kicks Customer Service. We reserve the right to require a photo of the product and unfortunately we can’t offer free return shipping to some countries.
